Stephanie Kwan
B.S. in Environmental Studies and Political Science, December 2004
Stephanie's academic career focused on the interface between environmental science and policy-making, and entailed taking courses such as International Environmental Policy. During her time at Emory, Stephanie worked for a grassroots environmental group, an environmental consulting firm, and a government environmental agency. In August 2005, Stephanie began her M.S. in Environmental Engineering with a focus on Air Quality Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her research focused on the effects of air pollutant emission sources and meteorology on air quality in Shanghai, China, as well as on the implications for local and multi-jurisdictional air quality management in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region. Following receipt of her M.S. in December 2006, Stephanie began working at an environmental consulting firm in Atlanta, Georgia, in the areas of climate change and air quality. Continuing her work in the climate change field, Stephanie joined a Clean Development Mechanism project finance and development firm in May 2007, based out of their Beijing, China, office. On the side, Stephanie has worked with SustainUS, a U.S. youth network for sustainable development, under which she has served as a SustainUS Agent of Change, delegation leader, and policy advisor for SustainUS delegations to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and UN Commission on Sustainable Development negotiations. Stephanie focuses on climate change policy related to developing countries, technology transfer, and finance.
