continued from home page: The Department of Environmental Studies is rooted in relevant disciplines in the natural and social sciences, while modestly engaging the humanities and arts. Topics offered in courses include: past and present environmental changes, geology, global earth systems, environmental policy, conservation, ecosystem ecology, energy, ecological economics, and environmental assessment and management. The department also offers field and integrative courses that compel students to synthesize concepts, methods and practice from relevant disciplines of the environment. Student internships and undergraduate research opportunities are emphasized.
