Description:Psammichnites is a horizontally oriented trail with a narrow medial ridge and finer transverse ridges; the overall form is straight to curvaceous, in some cases making loops. Psammichnites is interpreted as a gastropod grazing trace.
Comments: This image is of a replica of a specimen from Dolf Seilacher's collection; the replica was part of a special display at the museum while I was visiting in July, 1995.
