Description: Spirophycus is a simple, tightly meandering horizontally oriented trail, parallel to bedding and typically preserved as an impression on a bedding plane surface. Spirophycus is interpreted as a feeding trace left by a worm-like animal as it grazed across a sediment surface or within a bedding interface.
