Innocent Rwego was born and raised in Kisoro, Uganda. He graduated as a Veterinarian from Makerere University and went on to work as a Mountain Gorilla Vet for 4 years. He received his Msc in Wildlife Health and Management and his PhD in Zoology. His research activities range from wildlife crop raiding to disease transmission patterns among humans, domestic animals and wildlife.  Dr. Rwego ia a member of the scientific committee of the UNESCO DIVERSITAS ecoHealth Cross-Cutting Network and a lecturer at Makerere University.
